Whitney Stark

Whitney, a native Portlander, returned home after starting her legal career in San Francisco more than a decade ago, where she developed her skills as a litigator representing employees in complex, class action litigation, as well as people facing employment discrimination.

Whitney handles matters for individuals in a wide range of matters, including employment discrimination, wage and hour violations, and breach of contract violations. She has extensive experience in individual as well as complex class action litigation, including employment, civil rights, and consumer cases. Whitney collaborates closely with her clients and approaches her cases strategically, creatively and effectively to meet each client’s unique needs. Whitney also represents labor organizations, including providing daily counsel and support to labor organizations.

Prior to joining Albies & Stark, Whitney focused on employment and high-impact consumer rights class actions and litigated numerous class actions resulting in substantial recoveries for consumers and employees. She served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Magistrate Edward Chen of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

Mansourian v. Regents of Univ. of Cal., 602 F.3d 957 (9th Cir. 2010).

Co-lead counsel in case that led to trial finding that University of California at Davis violated Title IX by failing to provide equal opportunities to female athletes.

Lazarin v. Pro Unlimited Inc., No. 11-03609, 2013 WL 3541217 (N.D. Cal. Jul. 11, 2013)

Assisted in negotiation and approval of class action settlement obtaining $1.25 million in FLSA class action and wage and hour class action lawsuit.

Lushe v. Verengo, Inc., No. 13-07632, 2014 WL 5794627 (C.D. Cal. Oct. 22, 2014)

Successfully argued that the court should deny defendant’s motion for summary judgment in case alleging that the defendant was responsible for robocalls in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

O’Donovan v. CashCall, Inc., No. 08-03174, 278 F.R.D. 479 (N.D. Cal. 2011)

Co-lead counsel in case brought on behalf borrowers of unsecured consumer loans in which court granted class certification.

Tseng v. Nordstrom, Inc., No. 11-8471, 2013 WL 5486768 (C.D. Cal., Mar. 25, 2013)

Co-counsel in class action alleging that defendants’ employment practices violated law and successfully defeated employer’s motion for summary judgment.
